For the last decade, it has been widely acknowledged that some of the best internal medicine physicians in Rhode Island are members of Coastal Medical. We are now over 85 primary care providers in 16 locations, from Lincoln to Wakefield, from Smithfield to Newport and provide care to more than 150,000 patients. We have some 350 employees and our corporate headquarters is in Providence. We offer a wide array of medical services with "one stop shopping" for patients with busy schedules and limited time. Coastal physicians are expert in common medical diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, heart disease and gastrointestinal disorders, to name a few.
When a patient selects a Coastal practice, he or she gains access to a sophisticated office with cutting edge medical knowledge and capabilities. Within the next year, all Coastal practices will be paperless with an electronic medical record system, resulting in great improvements in quality and access of office medical care. We will establish a Coastal Medical interactive web site and email access for patients. Coastal doctors admit to their local hospitals, but we mainly utilize the inpatient services of Miriam and Rhode Island Hospitals, where we have full time inpatient care provided by the physicians of the Coastal
Hospitalist Service.
Most Coastal practices are accepting new patients. After seeing the doctor for a complete evaluation, testing can be provided via the on-site Coastal laboratory, or referral can be made to the Coastal Bone Densitometry and Radiology centers. Cardiac testing can be arranged with the Coastal Cardiac Testing Program, Pulmonary evaluation with our Pulmonary Office, and Sleep testing can be done at the Sleep Lab. Urgent care for problems is addressed with 24 hours of a phone call by the primary doctor, physician assistants, or nurse practitioners. We have offices that specialize in Women's Care, Infectious Disease, and Alternative Lifestyles.
Coastal Medical participates with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, United Health Plans and other major Rhode Island insurers. We can provide you with a Coastal physician in your area that is accepting new patients.
